Training and Tips

Mass Spectrometry-based Proteomics Course

The course is intended to educate novice users of the technology to the level where they have a solid understanding and could apply proteomics to their research. The first three days of the course will include details about mass spectrometers, top-down and bottom-up proteomics, protein identification and quantification by mass spectrometry, characterizing post-translational modifications, data acquisition, analysis of complex mixtures and preparing samples for mass spectrometry. Day four will include database search algorithms and the analysis of proteomics data. The final day of the course will take place in the computer-training center and participants will receive hands-on demonstrations on how to use software tools available at the Center for analyzing proteomics data and results.

The course is typically held in February and August - 3 hours each day for five days. If you would like to be on the waiting list for the next course, please contact Karen Miller at kamiller@fhcrc.org .

Tips for Success

Tips for SDS-PAGE Gel Handling

Staff is available for consultation during all stages of proteomics experiments (from experimental design to publication). Best results usually occur when the facility staff works closely with investigators. It is highly recommended that staff is involved with projects as early as possible.
