In September 2001, the Board of Trustees of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center established the Patient Protection Oversight Committee (PPOC) to recommend improvements to policies and practices related to clinical trials.
In March 2001, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle undertook a review of its policies and practices to assure the community of patient protection in clinical research trials conducted by the Hutchinson Center. A Committee for Patient Protection in Research Trials (the CPPRT or the Committee) was established by the Center's Board of Trustees to conduct the review.
