Industry Relations and Technology Transfer

Funding Opportunties

Financial support is critical to developing discoveries into lifesaving products and services. Funding opportunities available from the Center and external organizations include:

New Technology Development Fund

The New Technology Development Fund provides short-term support for specific research projects considered to be of commercial value, but are too early to attract a licensing partner or venture funding. The funds will be used to develop additional data and a more thorough plan for development of the technology.

Applicants
Must be Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Faculty Members. Staff scientists and postdoctoral fellows are eligible to apply if they provide a letter of support from their PIs.

Award Amount

Amounts are open. Applications will be reviewed on an individual basis. Funding will be determined based on the objective(s) to be achieved.

Review and Decision Process
Applications will be reviewed and decisions made by a committee of FHCRC faculty members. The committee will receive additional input from the Industry Relations and Technology Transfer Office and outside advisors as appropriate. Consideration will be given to:

  • Potential commercial value and/or public benefit
  • Work accomplished to date
  • Specific aims (definable milestones)
  • Proprietary position
  • Impact of the technology
  • Impact of funding (Will the money be enough to make a difference?)
  • Technical risk
  • Other sources of funding and associated obligations

Project Eligibility
Funding awards are for the continued development of existing intellectual property.

Application Instructions
Applicants should complete the two page application for the New Technology Development Fund.
