Quest Winter 2008On the eve of the new millennium, the Pew Research Center surveyed Americans’ predictions for the 21st century. One question that Pew asked its respondents dealt with the future of cancer, and the 1,500 adults surveyed offered an upbeat prognosis. 

Eighty percent said they expected a cure for cancer would probably be found within the next 50 years. Twenty percent believed a cure would definitely be found.
